Latest Volvo software update was disappointing to me

I had software update 5.1.9 and 5.1.17 on my xc40. Based on a YouTube video, I expected that I could disable the start/stop feature. The video showed someone navigate to a screen and showed how one can toggle a radio button to OFF, and to ON if wanted. No other details were in the video. What I found when I got home is that the "fine print" was not mentioned. It is true that you can toggle the start/stop feature to OFF or back ON. The "fine print" however indicates that a toggle to the OFF position is "TEMPORARY" and will toggle to ON the next time the car is started.

Having experienced this, I will no longer navigate to the Drive Mode screen to toggle this to off. There is a much easier and quicker way to shut off the start/stop function "again, temporarily". Simply touch the car symbol on the bottom right of the startup screen. This will bring you to a screen that shows three control options with start/stop being one of them. Simply touch the start stop radio button, and the stop/start will go to Off and the A on the driver's bezzle will disappear. It will however re-appear the next time the car is started. The other two buttons on this screen manages the lane-keeping feature and allows you to drop down the rear seat headrests for improved visibility. The headrests need to be pushed back up manually after dropping them electronically.

So, we will keep experiencing the stop/start feature but it can be turned off easily - by tapping a button and then a second button that pops up. As I said, I am disappointed, but we now at least have more control than we had before the upgrade.
Volvo will be rolling it out as an OTA in segments. Owners of vehicles that can be updated will be notified on their center screen when it's made available for you.

FYI - the volvocars.com site still indicates this is not an OTA update and requires it be done at a dealership. The dealership that I was at however indicates that it is expected to be rolled out as an OTA.
