Front Bumper Damage

I'm new here, so thanks in advance for everyone's input and knowledge. I own a 2023 xc40 and I absolutely love my car. My issue is I hit a dog and it put a dent in the front rt. bumper. My question is, shouldn't my car have notified me of damage to any sensors? I took it to my dealer for estimate/repair, and without looking at it, quoted me the cost for a new bumper. Logically my brain is saying that the damage wasn't significant enough to cause enough damage to warrant a new bumper.

Sensors will only show error lights if:
Voltage out of range / shorted out
Sensor values don’t match what the BCM or ECU expect

E.g. a parking sensor will chuck an error if the wire is broke but not if pointing at the floor/sky
